SECRET SPOT – SINCE 2017
Founding President Tyson Kozuszec, Treasurer Grant McCullagh, and Secretary Dannie Castle set out with the goal of attracting enough members to establish an incorporated community surfing club. Within just three months—and by our second competition—we had already surpassed 70 fully paid members.
This achievement highlights the strength of Mudjimba’s surfing community, revealing a surprising number of longboarders who had been quietly waiting for the right opportunity.
Mudjimba is blessed with an outstanding beach break, but it also boasts a unique offshore gem. Just a 20-minute paddle from “Out the Front” near the Power Park boardwalk lies Old Woman Island, also known as Mudjimba Island. When the swell is on, it delivers truly world-class waves. Both goofy-footed and natural-footed surfers are well catered for, with the southern side offering what many consider one of the best left-hand breaks in Queensland
